Presbyterian Homes & Services - Waverly Gardens is seeking a Recreation Specialist to join our team. Sheltered by ten acres of lush parkland, Waverly Gardens architecture reflects an aura of Old World Charm that has been revitalized and paired with today's most luxurious amenities. Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Occupational Therapist, COTA or related field. Specialized training or experience in geriatric activities, social work or gerontology is desirable. Is licensed or registered, if applicable, by the State in which practicing.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last five (5) years, one (1) of which was full-time in a patient activities program in a health care setting.
  • Class B license or ability to obtain within six months of hire as required by site.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, leadership skills, interpersonal relationship skills and knowledge of federal and state regulations governing activities practice and leadership.
  • Strong assessment skills, including good insights into resident preferences and needs. Demonstrated strong communication and relationship building skills with residents, and ability to explain resident needs to others as needed for resident advocacy.
  • Demonstrated compatibility with PHS's mission and operating philosophies.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with all customers.

Responsibilities

  • The Recreation Specialist is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing and monitoring high quality life enhancement/recreation therapy programming for residents consistent with regulations and established policies, procedures and best practices.
