About The Position

Galapagos Federal Systems, LLC is seeking a highly experienced Life Cycle Management Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide technical leadership and strategic advisory support across the full life cycle of Department of Defense (DoD) and federal systems. This role is critical in guiding sustainment, maintenance, modernization, and disposal strategies to ensure systems remain mission-ready, cost-effective, and operationally resilient. The SME will collaborate closely with government stakeholders, program managers, and cross-functional teams to design and implement lifecycle strategies, integrate emerging technologies, and ensure compliance with acquisition and sustainment frameworks. This is a high-impact opportunity to shape mission outcomes, strengthen readiness, and influence DoD modernization efforts.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in system life cycle management, sustainment, modernization, or related technical roles within DoD or federal programs
  • Expertise in systems engineering, life cycle planning, and technology refresh strategies
  • Strong knowledge of DoD acquisition and sustainment processes (e.g., DAS, JCIDS, PPBE)
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing lifecycle management plans, readiness assessments, and performance metrics
  • Proficiency in evaluating and integrating emerging technologies to enhance system performance and capabilities
  • Experience producing technical documentation, executive briefings, and compliance reports
  • Proven ability to operate in classified and unclassified environments across joint operations
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication, briefing, and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Ability to collaborate and influence senior leaders and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to balance cost, schedule, risk, and mission effectiveness
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required for this position. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

  • Master’s degree (preferred)
  • Security+ CE, CISSP, or equivalent (for roles involving classified or sensitive environments)
  • DoD Acquisition or Lifecycle Management certifications (e.g., DAWIA, CDFM) (preferred)
  • ITIL Foundation for service management practices (preferred)
  • PMP (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Lead full life cycle management activities across DoD and federal systems, from acquisition and sustainment to modernization and disposal
  • Develop and oversee strategies, plans, and road maps to ensure system reliability, maintainability, and mission effectiveness
  • Conduct readiness assessments, cost-benefit analyses, and performance evaluations to optimize operational outcomes
  • Provide technical and advisory expertise to government stakeholders, program managers, and cross-functional teams
  • Support technology refresh and modernization initiatives, ensuring seamless integration of new capabilities into existing systems
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level briefings, reports, and recommendations to senior leaders and decision-makers
  • Ensure compliance with all DoD and federal standards, policies, and reporting requirements
  • Capture and apply lessons learned and best practices to strengthen lifecycle management processes and outcomes
