About The Position

The Licensed Security Officer position at Samaritan Hospital is a full-time, day shift role focused on visitor management. The officer will work from 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM, under the direct supervision of the Lead Security Officer. Key responsibilities include conducting security and safety rounds, ensuring the security of offices and suites, responding promptly to service calls, and reporting any suspicious activities. The role also involves identifying and addressing safety and security hazards on campus, completing incident reports, managing patient valuables, and using a digital camera for incident documentation. The officer may be required to work additional hours at other Acute care facilities as needed. Requirements

  • NYS Security License
  • Active police officer certification (active police officers required to obtain NYS Security Guard license within 90 days of hire)
  • Valid NYS Driver's License
  • Basic computer skills
  • Good oral, interpersonal skills and written communications which will allow you to document investigative activities.
  • One year minimum security or law enforcement experience required
  • Able to push or pull 50 lbs
  • Able to stand for long periods of time

Responsibilities

  • Performs all security and safety rounds as assigned.
  • Insures that offices and suites are secured.
  • Responds to calls for service in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Reports all suspicious activity to the Lead Security Officer or the designee on duty.
  • Identifies hazards and threats to the safety and security of the campus and its occupants and then initiates the appropriate corrective measures or immediately alerts his supervisor regarding the deficiency.
  • Completes written reports of all reported incidents as assigned.
  • Prepares property reports for patient valuables and secures said valuables in the department safe.
  • Uses the departments digital camera to photograph areas where security incidents have been reported.
  • Pick up hours as the need arises, at our Acute care facilities, other than primary work location.
  • Visitor management and other duties as assigned.
  • Answering resident calls, fire alarms, and minor maintenance issues throughout the campus.
  • Completing daily rounds.
