About The Position

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Employment Type: PRN Reports To: Registered Nurse (RN) or Nursing Supervisor Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team. The LPN will provide high-quality nursing care to our residents, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care in a supportive and nurturing environment. Key Responsibilities: -Resident Care: Provide direct nursing care to residents, including administering medications, treatments, and assisting with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and feeding. Monitoring: Observe and report changes in residents' conditions to the RN or Nursing Supervisor. Monitor vital signs and implement care plans as directed. Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of residents' care, including medical records, progress notes, and care plans. Communication: Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members. Provide emotional support and education to residents and their families. Compliance: Adhere to all nursing home policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including infection control protocols. -Emergency Response: Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid or CPR as needed. Assist in the coordination of emergency care and evacuation plans. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the nursing and healthcare team to ensure coordinated and efficient care. Participate in shift handovers and team meetings. Continuous Improvement: Engage in ongoing professional development and training. Stay updated with best practices in geriatric nursing and long-term care. Qualifications: Education: Graduate of an accredited LPN program. Licensure: Current and valid LPN license in the state of Iowa. -Experience: Previous experience in a nursing home or long-term care setting preferred. Skills: Strong clinical and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and documentation. Certifications: BLS/CPR certification required. Physical Requirements: - Ability to lift, move, and assist residents as needed. - Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods. - Manual dexterity and fine motor skills for handling medical equipment and administering treatments. Work Environment: The role requires working in a nursing home environment with exposure to various medical conditions. Shifts may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
