About The Position

As part of a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) and licensed 245G clinic, performs highly responsible and professional substance use disorder assessment and treatment involving a wide variety of responsibilities including developing and facilitating SUD programing up to level 2.1, overseeing treatment coordination, and consulting with and provide training for other personnel, professionals, and agencies regarding behavioral health services. The majority of the work is direct client service.

Requirements

  • Requires current Alcohol and Drug Counselor license and 2 years of experience providing direct SUD services.
  • The incumbent shall possess a valid driver's license and provide a reliable means of transportation for the performance of work responsibilities.

  • Preference for those dual licensed as Mental Health Professional (MHP) licensure OR the ability to obtain MHP licensure to practice independently within 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct services to clients including interviewing clients, assessments, treatment/aftercare planning, individual, family and group counseling, and monitoring/evaluating client progress.
  • Provides professional outpatient substance use disorder treatment up to level 2.1, and evaluation services to individuals with substance use disorder diagnoses and significant emotional/behavioral symptoms.
  • Develops and updates standard operating procedures for SUD treatment programming up to level 2.1 while ensuring compliance with 245G, DHS, Medicaid, and agency standards.
  • Provides clinical oversight of Treatment Coordination services in compliance with 245G and agency policy.
  • Ensures appropriate level of care determinations utilizing American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria
  • Reviews and supports accurate Drug and Alcohol Normative Evaluation System (DAANES) reporting and outcome tracking.
  • If dual-licensed as a mental health professional or classified as a clinical trainee for mental health, may conduct diagnostic assessments and provide mental health treatment.
  • Provides education, consultation, and training for other agencies and County departments.
  • Provides crisis intervention and consultation to staff regarding high-risk clients, ongoing safety planning and intervention, mandated reporting and critical incident stress debriefing.
  • Provides testimony regarding diagnosis and recommendations.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with referral sources, including providing feedback and consultation regarding specific clientele.
  • Provides behavioral health expertise to billing staff and health plan representatives in order to obtain authorization for appropriate behavioral services for clients and reimbursement to the fullest extent available for the agency.
  • Maintains working knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations related to 245G Substance Use assessment and treatment.
  • Acquires and utilizes up-to-date research, education and training in the delivery of ethical and competent mental health intervention.
  • Maintains current records and documentation within the client file according to Minnesota Data Privacy Practices, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Medicaid, and Department of Human Services regulations.
  • Responsible for supporting an inclusive environment focused on equitable outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and complete records, including but not limited to: documenting clients’ assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, continuing care plans and discharge summaries.
  • Provides documented clinical supervision to unlicensed staff in compliance with Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy supervision standards and applicable statutes.
  • Works the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks.
  • Must be available (especially during regular business hours or shifts) to communicate with subordinates, supervisors, customers, vendors, and any other person or organization with whom interaction is required to accomplish work and employer goals.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
