About The Position

The starting salary range is $21.36-$29.68/hour This position exists to provide patrons with library services. Includes leadership for Circulation services on evenings and weekends, course reserves, and Library of Things directly and through leadership of a well-trained student workforce. Prepares and maintains records and systems used to organize, manage, and facilitate the use of library collections, with a primary focus on circulation, course reserves, and Library of Things. Provides prompt, professional guidance and service to library patrons in locating and using library and campus resources in alignment with federal, state, university, and departmental statues and policies. Develops, implements, and maintains procedures and work systems to resolve existing problems and to respond to new problems, technologies, and policies. Participates in cross-training and associated task coverage with co-workers to improve and maintain performance levels. Provides work direction, training, and technical assistance to student employees. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the University Library department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable academic and business partner.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of library classification system(s) and standard library reference tools sufficient to assist clients in locating materials and conducting research.
  • Ability to: Apply and support detailed coding or cataloging systems sufficient to create tracking for new print and non-print library acquisitions and locate and replace existing materials.
  • Operate personal computers, use various software and web-based applications, and other office equipment sufficient to locate catalog information, word-process documents, complete forms and prepare reports.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing sufficient to determine and respond to the informational needs of clients of varied educational levels and backgrounds; to train, direct and evaluate work of student employees; and to assist the professional library staff to maintain the library collection according to library policy and procedures.

  • Knowledge and skill in the use of library tools such as Alma and Primo
  • Ability and willingness to engage in continuous improvement of skills and capacities.
  • Ability and willingness to work as part of a team, participating in cross-training and backing up/receiving back-up from team members when needed.
  • Knowledge of St. Cloud State University and University Library policies and procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills, dependability, and personal flexibility.
  • Knowledge of University Library’s stakeholders, responsibilities, goals and objectives.
