About The Position

This position is a 100% appointment in the Textbook Services Department under the general supervision of the Textbook Services Manager. Performs a wide variety of library services which support the day-to-day operations to provide access to information resources in a variety of formats. Trains and guides student employees. Previous library experience preferred but not required. Seeking candidates with transferable skills and an interest in variety in their daily tasks. Requirements

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, and 10 pounds overhead
  • Ability to push and pull wheeled conveyances weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to perform physical work including reaching, turning, stooping, and twisting
  • Pass a post offer employment test

Responsibilities

  • Supports the day-to-day operations of library services to provide guidance in the use of textbook resources, operations, and policies
  • Communicates with instructors to determine textbook adoptions for upcoming semesters
  • Acquires, prepares, and preserves textbook resources for use, ensuring adequate inventory for enrollment
  • Interprets policies and procedures to answer non-routine questions and resolve issues
  • Conducts searches to locate relevant materials and answer questions as needed
  • Utilizes designated library systems, tools, standards, and practices to locate, retrieve, and organize; or describe, edit, preserve, and reformat a variety of library information resources
  • Utilizes library software and systems to retrieve, enter, and report on data using a wide variety of applications
  • Create invoices, process complex orders, and resolve any purchasing discrepancies
  • Manage the shelving, shifting, inventory, and systematic shelf reading of textbook materials
  • Trains and guides student employees including hiring, scheduling, approving time and verifying payroll edits, and directing work
  • Contributes to the development of policies and procedures
  • Participates in committee work within the library and the university
  • Provides backup duties for Textbook Services Manager
  • Performs basic copy cataloging functions as needed
