Charter Township of Shelby Library Technical Assistant II The Charter Township of Shelby Human Resources Department is now accepting applications for Library Technical Assistant II. Employment Status: Full-time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Experience Required: One year of experience in technical phases of library work with clerical experience and additional personal computer training. Minimum Education Requirements: A Library Technical Assistant Degree is required within six months of being awarded this position. Direct Supervisor: Library Director and Assistant Library Director Supervisory Responsibility: None Physical Requirements: Visual and hearing acuity, able to sit for extended periods, walking, typing and computer use, fine motor skills, occasionally lifting to 20 pounds. Primary Work Location: Office/Library Environment Job Summary : Performs a variety of specialized library functions including circulation desk service, clerical and record-keeping tasks, collection maintenance, materials processing, and customer service. Supports the library by organizing and preparing materials for shelf use, assisting with acquisitions, participating in interlibrary loan operations, and performing technical or inventory-related tasks as assigned. Essential Job Functions An employee in this position may be called upon to perform any or all of the following essential duties: Circulation & Patron Services: Perform circulation desk duties. Assist patrons with routine inquiries and refer complex questions to Librarians. Provide excellent customer service in person and by phone. Materials Processing & Collection Maintenance: Process and physically prepare materials for the collection. Receive, organize, and create preliminary records for new acquisitions. Repair and refurbish materials as needed. Withdraw outdated or damaged items and assist with weeding using generated reports. Change catalog status of materials and assist with catalog maintenance. Participate in inventory projects. Acquisitions & Vendor Coordination: Order books, AV materials, and processing supplies as instructed by Librarians. Reconcile packing slips with invoices and submit to Librarians. Place orders with publishers and suppliers. Automated Systems & Technology Support: Assist with automated system upgrades. Oversee and facilitate MeLCat interlibrary loan requests and fulfillment. Accumulate and report monthly holdings and circulation statistics. Special Projects & Department Support: Participate in special projects such as RFID tagging or cataloging updates. Perform related work as required.
