About The Position

The Level A Auto Service Technician performs advanced diagnostics, electrical work, engine repair, and resolves complex drivability issues. This role involves working independently on difficult jobs, utilizing diagnostic tools, scanners, and software to accurately identify and resolve vehicle problems. The technician is responsible for interpreting technical manuals and manufacturer specifications, conducting thorough inspections and road tests, and ensuring all work meets manufacturer and safety standards. Maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail, reviewing and verifying repair work, and documenting diagnostics and repairs are also key aspects. The technician will work closely with service advisors to communicate repair needs and timelines, and contribute to prioritizing workflow and improving shop productivity.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of automotive systems and repair procedures
  • 4–7+ years experience
  • Full tool set
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software
  • Ability to read service and repair manuals
  • Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion
  • Ability to read and interpret repair orders
  • Must be 18 years or older

Nice To Haves

  • Multiple ASE certifications
  • OEM training (e.g., Toyota Motor Corporation, Ford Motor Company, General Motors programs)
  • Hybrid/EV certification

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle issues
  • Perform advanced repairs on engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, HVAC, and electrical systems
  • Use diagnostic tools, scanners, and software to identify and resolve issues accurately
  • Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and manufacturer specifications
  • Conduct thorough inspections and road tests to verify repairs
  • Ensure all work meets manufacturer and safety standards
  • Maintain high levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Review and verify repair work when necessary
  • Work closely with service advisors to communicate repair needs and timelines
  • Help prioritize workflow and improve shop productivity
  • Maintain accurate documentation of diagnostics and repairs
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
