About The Position

The NC State Highway Patrol is seeking an enthusiastic team member to join our Personnel Unit as L.E.O. Compensation Consultant. The L.E.O. Compensation Consultant serves as the compensation consultant responsible for overseeing and managing all compensation-related activities for the organization. This position is deemed eligible for hybrid telework under SHP’s Telework Policy.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge in the interpretation and application of federal laws and State HR laws, policies and practices governing HR.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to express ideas clearly and concisely; to exercise good judgment in analyzing situations and making recommendations and/or decisions within delegated level of authority.
  • Bachelor’s degree, typically in Human Resources OR related field from an appropriately accredited institution; OR High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 3 years of progressive experience in Human Resources; OR equivalent combination or education and experience.

  • Implementing and updating position data changes
  • Resolving complex pay and funding issues
  • Conducting detailed audits
  • Processing retirement payouts
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support and act as a subject matter expert for compensation policies and procedures
  • Utilize advanced skills in keying personnel actions, compliance auditing, compensation analysis, and process improvement to ensure legal compliance, data accuracy, and operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with HR staff, department leaders, and external partners to deliver solutions that align with organizational goals and support employee satisfaction
