About The Position

This position conducts external audits for local government entities in the Middle Tennessee region, ensuring accountability, transparency, and effective operations across publicly funded organizations.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration with at least 24 semester hours in accounting
Ability to learn quickly, think critically, problem solve, and produce accurate work
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work tactfully with coworkers, auditees, and stakeholders
Sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions

Nice To Haves

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license (not required but strongly encouraged for advancement)
Experience in auditing, governmental accounting, or related fields

Responsibilities

Conduct audits of state and local governmental entities in accordance with professional auditing standards.
Examine and review records, reports, financial statements, and management practices.
Evaluate financial statement presentation, internal controls, compliance, and operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Produce clear, logical, and well-supported workpapers and data analyses.
Communicate clearly with auditees, coworkers, elected officials, and stakeholders.
Take initiative, seek continuous improvement, and contribute to a collaborative team culture.
