About The Position

As Manager of Legislative Affairs, you'll serve as a key representative for legislative issues in the Washington D.C. environment. You'll work on a small team that provides information, advice, and perspectives to senior corporate executives concerning policies, trends and activities within the Congress and key customer organizations; apply your knowledge, insight, and strategic planning to produce comprehensive communications and action/engagement plans; influence positive outcomes for the company; and build networks, coalitions, and contacts to effectively execute action plans. You will be responsible for maintaining a comprehensive knowledge base to build, craft, and focus key messaging and content for Legislative and Government Affairs engagement with the expectation of highly polished, professional, and potent products; facilitate effective strategic integration of executives, program managers, business development, marketing/outreach, program, and technical teams in order to build and maintain strong communications. You'll also integrate these activities with all Corporate functions, including the communications, legal, and executive support functions at the Corporate headquarters. Your duties will also include effectively interacting with outside consultants, participating in in business reviews, resource allocations, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement efforts and serving as a lobbyist with the full range of responsibilities and accountability associated with this role. Our team is responsible for government affairs, international strategy, international business, and trade and regulatory compliance. We provide strategic guidance across the organization, helping to find alignment and compliance between SNC and the national security priorities of the U.S. government.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (advanced preferred) in a related field of study. A higher level degree may substitute for experience. Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education
  • Typically, 8+ years of progressive legislative affiars experience, which includes 4+ years of management experience.
  • Knowledge of appropriations and authorization processes.
  • Expertise in US government affairs and related regulatory environment/processes.
  • Strategic mindset able to navigate, affect, and/or lead complex initiatives with senior level stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Able to establish and develop relationships with ease.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience working on legislative matters in the private sector, a Congressional office, or an Executive Agency
  • Possess a track record of delivering results by developing and implementing advocacy programs in the legislative and executive branches
  • Demonstrated first-hand familiarity with congressional and executive branch politics, processes, customs, and ethics.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense (Civilian) and/or US Military, with an understanding of defense, aerospace, intelligence, and adjacent markets

Responsibilities
