Job Summary The Associate Vice President, Legislative Affairs will hold a key leadership role in the Federal Government Affairs team. As a federal lobbyist, this role works closely with the EVP to grow Comcast’s advocacy strategy and federal presence with policymakers in Washington. Charged with protecting Comcast’s core business positions among stakeholders in Washington. This role works internally and externally, establishing critical relationships to fuel and amplify our priorities. The Associate Vice President, Legislative Affairs will also closely coordinate with the SVP of Government and External Affairs on the company’s strategic outreach to ensure cohesive messaging and advocacy priorities are aligned on the Hill and with third parties. The role will work across GA and Business leads in Washington and Philadelphia and the Impact & Inclusion and Corporate Communications teams aligning to organize a thematic and integrated outreach strategy for various platforms.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of senior-level corporate, Capitol Hill, and Executive Branch experience.
  • Highly networked on and around Capitol Hill.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Strong understanding of Comcast’s core business and values.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • History of building and maintaining strong relationships on Capitol Hill, Executive Branch, and with significant advocacy groups.
  • Ability to represent Comcast with public policy stakeholders and thought leaders.
  • Full understanding of compliance requirements and legislative/regulatory process and prepared to certify compliance regularly.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters, J.D., or appropriate experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in managing high-performing teams.
  • Preferred but not imperative experience in the telecommunications and technology sectors.
  • Experience leveraging PR, grassroots campaigns, and communications to support legislative actions.
  • An entrepreneurial, creative-thinking self-starter interested in maintaining and expanding a solid advocacy presence for the company.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates to ensure that all investments are aligned and targeted to maximize resources and that the company “speaks with one voice” on its vital federal issues and initiatives.
  • Serves as a public presence for Comcast in Washington on Capitol Hill.
  • Collaborates with Regulatory and Political Affairs teams and our State and local GA partners.
  • Analyzes and monitors legislation and political activities relating to issues that may impact Comcast in crucial business areas.
  • Allies with industry trade associations and non-profit organizations to advance common legislative and policy objectives.
