We are actively hiring for a Civil Litigation Legal Secretary – Hybrid. Join us and support CSAA IG in achieving our goals. Your Role: A Civil Litigation Legal Secretary plays a crucial role in supporting attorneys and legal teams in managing the administrative and organizational aspects of civil litigation cases. This role will support two attorneys. This position is primarily remote, but you will need to go into the Folsom, CA office as needed for occasional meetings or trial prep. It is ideal to be in the office for new hire training as well.

Requirements

  • 2 - 5 years of experience as a Legal Secretary.
  • 2 - 5 years of previous civil litigation secretarial experience in the area of law.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and of proper formats for legal documents, legal procedures, and document editing skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong PC skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have the ability to handle and respond to sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and organizational skills.
  • Ability to file using an alpha-numeric system.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Electronic Legal Management, e-Docs preferred.
  • Familiar with Team Connect preferred.
  • Ability to manage in a strictly electronic environment.
  • Strong Microsoft Office product skills, including but not limited to Office 365, TEAMS, and OneDrive.
  • Skilled in working with Adobe and utilizing and manipulating PDF documents.
  • California Court venue and understanding and familiarity with local rules a plus, as well as knowledge of e-filing process with various California courts.
  • Knowledge of legal software applications (Team Connect, e-Docs, etc.)
  • Knowledge of practice areas and legal procedures.
  • Trial experience.
  • Actively shapes our company culture (e.g., participating in employee resource groups, volunteering, etc.).
  • Leans into cultural norms (e.g., willing to have cameras when it matters: helping onboard new team members, building relationships, etc.).
  • Travels as needed for role, including divisional / team meetings and other in-person meetings.
  • Fulfills business needs, which may include investing extra time, helping other teams, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Types correspondence and various legal documents and forms.
  • Drafts documents and correspondence.
  • Litigation: Organizes and maintains files related to current cases and various legal matters in a paper lite environment, with strong emphasis on electronic filing and e-filing with Courts, dockets and calendars, legal appearances, and filing deadlines.
  • Litigation: Provides administrative support to multiple attorneys with depositions, medical examinations, court and arbitration hearings, and work with retained experts.
