About The Position

The Legal Intern, Housing provides legal research, legal analysis, and support to Pro Bono Center clinics and programs. The internship is expected to begin June 2026 and will run through August 2026. This is an hourly position working up to 25 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Interns must be enrolled in a full-time or part-time ABA accredited law school program.
  • Demonstrated interest in public interest law.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Ability to attend in-person meetings and events as needed.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Must work well in a team environment and be able to interact, including in-person, with Bar members, volunteers, vendors, the public and Pro Bono Center and Bar employees.
  • Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information.

Nice To Haves

  • Law school clinical experience.
  • Experience with a legal services organization that provides legal services to indigent individuals.
  • Proficiency in Spanish or Amharic.

Responsibilities

  • Assists staff attorneys and managing attorneys in preparing for legal clinics and resource centers.
  • Provides legal research and legal analysis on issues that will include housing law.
  • Staffs the Landlord Tenant Resource Center (LTRC) in person on clinic dates.
  • Reviews documents providing legal information for accuracy and advises Pro Bono Center attorneys on necessary changes to any such documents.
  • Updates and drafts new materials for self-represented litigants and responds to and maintains records of requests for materials or information.
  • Refers appropriate matters to Pro Bono Center programs as well as other area legal services providers.
  • Helps to identify emerging issues and develops recommendations for service models.
  • Assists in preparing community outreach and legal education materials for prospective clients and community members.
  • Drafts forms, pleadings, reports, correspondence, notices, and other documents for attorney review.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
