About The Position

Westmoreland Mining LLC is seeking a Legal Extern through the University of Denver Sturm School of Law's CORE ELMS program for the Fall 2024 Semester. This externship offers educational credit for hours worked, with a minimum requirement of 20 hours per week, across at least two days per week, at our Lone Tree Offices (10375 Park Meadows Drive). The extern will be supervised by the Corporate Counsel for External Affairs and will engage in legal review, research, and drafting related to natural resources and environmental law in the mining industry. Tasks include contract review, litigation research and preparation, public policy, communications, and other matters within Westmoreland's legal department, particularly those involving External and Regulatory Affairs.

Requirements

  • Must be at least a 2L (second-year law student)
  • Registered in the University of Denver Sturm School of Law's CORE ELMS program by the August 9 deadline
  • Minimum requirement of 20 hours per week
  • Work across at least two days per week
