Legal Engineer, Toronto

Harvey
Onsite

About The Position

At Harvey, the company is transforming legal and professional services using frontier agentic AI and an enterprise-grade platform. They aim to reshape critical knowledge work and are scaling fast with over 1000 customers in 60+ countries. The company emphasizes an ambitious, high-bar, and fast-paced environment with a team deeply committed to the mission, taking ownership from early thinking to long-term outcomes and staying close to customers. Legal Engineers at Harvey are former practicing lawyers who act as a bridge between customers, sales, and product. They support sales strategy and product development by serving as trusted advisors to lawyers, conducting discovery, and providing tailored product demonstrations. They translate real legal work into Harvey solutions, demonstrating clear value. As strategic partners to law firms and in-house teams, Legal Engineers are expected to thrive in ambiguity and empower lawyers to perform higher-quality work faster and with more confidence using Harvey.

Requirements

  • You move confidently through uncertainty, you operate at speed, and ship solutions that work—iterating quickly with lawyers, sales teams, and product partners to help Harvey and its customers win.
  • You bring deep curiosity about AI's potential to transform legal work, a bias toward action, and the creativity to solve problems nobody's cracked yet.
  • Based in Toronto and eligible to work in Canada.
  • Canadian practising certificate (or equivalent common-law qualification) with 3+ years’ experience as a qualified lawyer at a top-tier firm (e.g., Chambers Band 1 / leading national firm) or in-house at a major corporate or financial institution.
  • Deep understanding of Canadian legal workflows (corporate, regulatory, or disputes focus) and curiosity about AI’s role in reshaping them.
  • At least 3 years of experience practicing law at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house with strong exposure to complex legal workflows and client expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and make confident, well-reasoned recommendations.
  • Ability to operate seamlessly across legal, product, and sales contexts—translating between stakeholders with clarity and precision.
  • Executive presence and relationship-building skills, with comfort engaging partners, senior associates, in-house counsel, and legal leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Sales, customer-facing, or law firm business development experience is a plus, particularly where you’ve helped shape solutions rather than just present them.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with lawyers at current and prospective customers to uncover workflow pain points, recommend solutions, and show how Harvey fits into real legal work.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer, translating feedback and legal workflow insights into concrete, lawyer-ready product direction.
  • Partner closely with product, engineering, sales, and marketing to shape Harvey’s roadmap and ensure the product evolves in ways lawyers trust and adopt.
  • Build and refine product demonstrations, workflows, and use cases that reflect how legal teams actually work, including how AI is changing that work.
  • Introduce new capabilities in a way that’s tailored, credible, and compelling for each customer, continuously raising the bar for how Harvey is deployed.
