This position will be responsible for providing legal advice and assistance in Special Asset, real estate and litigation matters. Advises and assists associates in contract matters, loan transactions, and deposit account matters.

Requirements

  • J.D. Degree of Law is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in private/public law practice or work
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) or related software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work well under pressure with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Must be able to multi-task competing priorities to meet tight deadlines and budget guidelines.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize daily tasks.
  • Excellent client service skills. Tact and diplomacy in dealing with both clients and associates.

Nice To Haves

  • in-house financial institution experience preferred.
  • Experience in real estate, bankruptcy law, loan documentation preferred.
  • Management/team leader experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide distinctive service to clients and prospects, in person and over the telephone. Respond to client inquiries and satisfactorily resolve client issues. Support firm-wide achievement of the three-ring standard (all phones answered by a live person within three rings).
  • Assist and support the Special Assets Committee.
  • Administer real estate transactions and property matters in coordination with Properties Management.
  • Support various departments in contract review and drafting.
  • Assist associates in commercial loan transactions, including advising, reviewing documentation and preparation of documentation.
  • Effectively manage and/or handle litigation defense matters, including lien and condemnation actions and preparation of reports to Audit Committee.
  • Advise associates on legal issues regarding deposit account matters.
  • Meet all the client's financial needs, both business and personal, and refer clients to other specialty areas such as Trust, Investments, Insurance, Treasury Management, etc. as appropriate
  • Assist other team members as needed to ensure delivery of distinctive service.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
