About The Position

Crusoe is seeking a skilled and motivated attorney to join our team as Legal Counsel, Risk and Compliance. This role is integral to the continued development and day-to-day execution of Crusoe's global compliance program as we grow and expand internationally. Reporting to the Global Risk & Compliance Officer, you will support the implementation, enhancement, and ongoing operation of our compliance infrastructure across key risk areas. You will also contribute to our evolving approach to the compliance landscape of artificial intelligence. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented legal professional who can translate regulatory requirements into practical, business-friendly guidance at the intersection of AI, energy, and global commerce.

Requirements

  • Education & Bar: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar.
  • Experience: 5–10 years of legal experience with a meaningful focus on compliance. In-house exposure at a technology, industrial, or energy company is preferred.
  • Domain Expertise: Solid foundational knowledge in Export Controls, FCPA/Anti-Bribery, or Technology/Commercial Compliance.
  • AI/ML Fluency: Familiarity with legal and ethical considerations surrounding AI technologies, including bias, data provenance, and transparency.
  • Communication: Strong ability to translate complex regulations into clear, actionable guidance for non-legal stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant professional certifications such as CCEP, CAMS, or CIPP.
  • Experience with or exposure to GRC/ERM software platforms.
  • Experience in the technology, energy, or industrial infrastructure sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Program Enhancement & Strategy: Support the continuous improvement of our enterprise-wide ethics and compliance program. Assist with the implementation of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and GRC platforms.
  • Governance & Reporting: Help maintain corporate policies and contribute to compliance reporting for leadership and the Board of Directors. Manage compliance tools, including the corporate hotline.
  • International Trade Compliance: Support programs for global sanctions (OFAC, UK, EU), export controls (EAR), and import regulations related to our hardware and service supply chain.
  • Anti-Corruption & AML: Assist with our FCPA/anti-bribery program, including third-party due diligence (KYC/KYB), risk assessments, and internal reviews.
  • Operational & Commercial Compliance: Advise on global data center operations, including supply chain integrity, geopolitical risk, and industry certifications (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001).
  • AI Regulatory Landscape: Collaborate with technical and commercial teams to advise on the evolving regulatory landscape of AI managed services and IaaS.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Work closely with Finance, Procurement, HR, and Engineering to provide practical guidance and support employment or litigation matters as needed.
