In this position, you’ll provide essential support to a team of legal professionals by managing mail, monitoring case dockets, preparing basic pleadings, updating client systems, and communicating with clients and court personnel. You’ll help keep cases organized and moving forward while gaining exposure to the full legal lifecycle. Requirements

  • High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
  • One or more years of general work experience; experience in a law firm or corporate environment is a plus
  • Notary Public certification strongly preferred or willingness to obtain
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and accountability
  • Comfortable learning new systems and processes
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to support team goals
  • Bring flexibility and adaptability, staying open to new ideas and expressing your creativity

Responsibilities

  • Open, review, and process physical and electronic mail, ensuring documents are coded and routed accurately within internal and client systems
  • Monitor case management systems and proactively manage assigned tasks within your scope of responsibility
  • Review and track court dockets, retrieve documents, and follow up on filings as needed
  • Prepare basic legal pleadings and support documentation with attention to accuracy and detail
  • Communicate with clients to obtain necessary information and coordinate with court clerks regarding filings and document retrieval
  • Request attorney fees from clients in accordance with firm processes
  • Update client systems promptly as case tasks are completed
  • Support your team in meeting firm expectations, deadlines, and performance goals
  • Develop a strong understanding of the legal process and continuously build your knowledge of the work performed by your team
  • Actively contribute to MDK’s culture and support firm initiatives aligned with our mission and values
