About The Position

The Department of Education at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona invites applications for Part-Time Lecturer/Supervisor positions. Cal Poly Pomona is one of three polytechnic universities in the 22-campus California State University system, known for its learn-by-doing approach and Teacher Scholar Model. The university has nearly 30,000 students and over 1,400 faculty, offering 54 baccalaureate, 29 master’s degree programs, 11 credential and certificate programs, and a doctorate in educational leadership. The department offers credential programs in Education Specialist, Multiple Subject, and Single Subject, added authorizations, and a Master of Arts in Education. The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, with positions filled based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term runs from late August to mid-December, and the Spring term from mid-January to mid-May, with potential Summer Session opportunities. The department seeks experienced and student-centered individuals to teach in various subject areas including Foundations (Teaching & Learning, Diversity in Education, Disabilities in Diverse Settings), Special Education (Mild/Moderate Support Needs, Extensive Support Needs, Teacher Performance Assessment, University Supervision, Curriculum & Instruction, Assessment of students with disabilities, UDL, Behavior Management, Mathematics instruction, Multi-Tiered Literacy Assessment and Intervention, Law, ethics, and Research, Diversity), Multiple Subject (Literacy, Children’s literature, Language Acquisition, Language Arts, Mathematics Education, Science and Health Education, Social Science Education, Movement, Visual and Performing Arts, Teacher Performance Assessment, University Supervision), Single Subject (Reading and Writing in the Content Areas, Methods for various subjects, Working with English Learners, General Methods, Youth, Family, Community, Teacher Performance Assessment, University Supervision), and Bilingual Education (Spanish, Tagalog, Mandarin, Cultural Diversity).

Requirements

M.A. required
3-5 years as a credentialed teacher in public schools required (or may include other comparable K-12 teaching experiences)
Administrative Service Credential
Content area expertise
Related background desired in specific coursework area, i.e.: teacher education methodology or foundations, bilingual education (Spanish, Tagalog, Mandarin), literacy and language, curriculum & instruction, Education Specialist, Teacher Performance Assessment
Supervisors must be experts in the instructional area of the candidate being supervised
Supervisors must have current knowledge of the content
Supervisors must have knowledge of the current context of public schooling including the California adopted P-12 content standards, frameworks, and accountability systems
Supervisors must have knowledge of diversity in society, including diverse abilities, culture, language, ethnicity, and gender orientation
Supervisors must have demonstration of effective professional practices in teaching and learning, scholarship, and service

Nice To Haves

A EdD or Ph.D. in Education or related discipline
Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and ability to furnish evidence of strong teaching
Multilingual in Spanish, Tagalog, and/or Mandarin
