Temporary Faculty Pool Department of Agribusiness & Food Industry Management/Agricultural Science Huntley College of Agriculture The Department of Agribusiness & Food Industry Management/Agricultural Science at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona invites applications for Part-Time Lecturer positions in the Department of Agribusiness & Food Industry Management/Agricultural Science. About the Huntley College of Agriculture The Huntley College of Agriculture educates and trains the next generation of leaders in the farming, food, and fashion industries. We offer our students hands-on learning experiences, ranging from working with crops and animals on our 173-acre farm, to experimenting with food products, or designing and marketing a fashion line. We also have partnerships with industry leaders. We invite you to join us on our journey of student success and help us “Grow the Future.” About the Department of Agribusiness & Food Industry Management/Agricultural Science Our department teaches the full range of business-related courses e.g., accounting, economics, finance, management, and marketing, but with a food- or agricultural emphasis. We also teach specialized classes in agricultural policy, history of agriculture, international development, and agricultural ethics. We offer very popular general education courses that are taken by students from throughout the university. We believe in engaging with the broader community (including public and private firms, trade associations, charitable organizations, government agencies, and school districts, as appropriate) for the benefit of our students as well as the broader community. We have community service-learning courses, and we integrate micro-internships into certain courses. With the specific knowledge they have gained, our graduates are employed in the input sector (e.g., agricultural lending), agricultural production, and the food sector. We believe in continuous improvement, so we constantly seek to augment our knowledge, skills, methods, technology, and curriculum. Our dedicated faculty focus on the success of our students as well as advancing the body of knowledge in agribusiness and the food industry through applied research. The Position The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Agribusiness, Economics, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Science, History, Philosophy, or related discipline in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.

Nice To Haves

  • A Ph.D. in Agribusiness, Economics, Agricultural Economics or related discipline
  • Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and ability to furnish evidence of strong teaching
  • Knowledge of assessment

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned division courses in the department’s curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.
  • Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend courses.
  • While not required, attendance at department meetings and events is encouraged.
