Position Overview The Agricultural & Industry Food Sourcing Officer is responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, and managing a portfolio of agricultural and industry partners to secure food donations in support of Harvest Hope Food Bank's mission. This position is a portfolio-based relationship management approach, with emphasis on sourcing food from farms, agricultural producers, manufacturers, processors, and industry partners across Harvest Hope Food Bank's 20-county service area in South Carolina. The Food Sourcing Officer focuses on building long-term partnerships that increase the consistency, quality, and volume of food sources. Responsibilities include outreach, site visits, relationship cultivation, stewardship, coordination with internal teams, and meeting defined sourcing goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
  • Three or more years of experience in relationship management, sourcing, agriculture, food systems, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing external partnerships or portfolios.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet defined sourcing goals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with CRM or tracking systems preferred.
  • Ability to clearly articulate Harvest Hope Food Bank's mission.
  • Willingness to travel regularly throughout the 20-county service area.

Responsibilities

  • Manages a portfolio of agricultural, farming, and industry partners and prospects.
  • Identifies, qualifies, and cultivates new food sourcing partners within the 20-county service area.
  • Creates individual engagement and sourcing plans for each partner based on capacity, seasonality, and organizational needs.
  • Executes sourcing plans to support recurring and sustainable food donations.
  • Conducts regular in-person and virtual meetings, site visits, tours, and outreach activities.
  • Creates sourcing agreements and coordinates logistics related to food donations in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Works with Operations, Programs, Logistics, and Warehouse teams to align sourcing with organizational capacity and needs.
  • Tracks sourcing activity, partner engagement, and food volume secured through assigned portfolio.
  • Provides stewardship and recognition to sourcing partners in coordination with Communication, Development, and Program teams.
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation related to partner relationships and sourced food.
  • Represents Harvest Hope Food Bank's mission, programs, and message with external partners and industry stakeholders.
  • Serves as a community and industry ambassador for Harvest Hope Food Bank.
  • Performs other food sourcing or operations-related duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the Harvest Hope Food Bank mission and to fighting to end hunger in South Carolina.
  • Displays a desire to work with culturally diverse populations using a collaborative and respectful approach.
  • Supports a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and communicating process improvements.
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures.
  • Acknowledges that HHFB team members are considered emergency responders and may be called upon to perform regular or emergent duties during declared emergencies.
