About The Position

The Leasing Agent manages all activities related to apartment rentals, including marketing, leasing, and maintaining good customer relations with residents and prospective clients, to achieve maximum occupancy and resident retention. Serves as the main point of contact for all potential residents.

Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to engage in telephone communications in a professional manner
  • Ability to use and understand Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to write and communicate effectively
  • Knowledge of basic office machine systems such as copy machines, fax machines, scanners
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to function effectively in a customer service environment
  • Must be able to work an 8-hour in-person shift Monday to Friday and some weekends as needed
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred
  • Experience within the Real Estate industry and/or customer service or sales background preferred.
  • Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to communicate both on the phone and in person with our clients to resolve issues and manage the business.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other associates.
  • Capable of working extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.

  • Some knowledge of the Yardi program preferred

Responsibilities

  • Process incoming lease applications, including qualifying prospects, running credit verifications, tracking all prospective tenants, and following up on all leads
  • Generate prospect traffic through marketing efforts which include Craig’s List postings, community outreach, generating broker lists and working with brokers, and property tours
  • Prepare lease documentation and conduct lease signings
  • Coordinate all move-ins, move-outs, and transfers to achieve maximum occupancy and resident retention. Handle or assist in lease renewal activity
  • Make all updates necessary in Yardi system, including new tenant information and vacancies
  • Work with property/leasing manager to shop competition and maintain up-to-date marketing information on the competition and any other factors affecting the property’s market. Assist property/leasing manager with preparation of sales and marketing plans
  • Assist property/leasing manager in achieving income and occupancy goals, prepare leasing reports, comply with company policies and procedures and fair housing laws
  • Provide excellent customer service, including following up on resident service requests
  • Such other tasks or assignments as may be required by management
