About The Position

The Learning Experience Designer (LXD) serves as a knowledgeable and creative resource to business school faculty in their design and development of innovative, learner-centric courses. They are proficient in the integration of pedagogically informed course design strategies and educational technology to develop engaging learning experiences delivered across a variety of modalities. The LXD consults with faculty and/or subject matter experts as a trusted advisor and skilled course developer to ideate, plan, design, and develop course content that fosters deep thinking, connection and promotes active learning. The Learning Experience Designer is well-versed in designing for accessibility, in addition to visual design, instructional multimedia production, and the construction of course content within a learning management system (LMS). Additionally, they possess expert knowledge on pedagogical approaches and best practices in higher education for course delivery in a business school context while showcasing competency in the judicious use of educational technology, proven project management skills, along with the ability to assess and assure course quality. The Learning Experience Designer can both lead a project and collaborate with other team members to support faculty in the development of exceptional learning opportunities for our students.
Note: This is a one-year contract position with a potential for extension.

Requirements

• Thorough knowledge of functional area and understands how work within one course may impact work being done on other courses or in other areas.
• Thorough analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
• Strong analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and strong collaboration and negotiation skills.
• Thorough knowledge of organization policies and procedures, including policies that impact online course development.
• Thorough knowledge of instructional design principles and learning strategies, including needs analysis, backwards design, learning outcomes and assessment design, and instructional approaches including lecture, discussion, activities, projects, etc.
• Thorough knowledge of the technical tools and platforms required to achieve the delivery of engaging and media-rich online learning content, and of trends in the use and effectiveness of educational technology and learning.
• Thorough knowledge and skills with relevant business software and cloud-based systems.
• Thorough knowledge of applying learning theories and educational methodologies.
• Advanced level skills in application of planning, resourcing and monitoring of effective design life cycles of training and other learning and performance solutions to support the organization.
• Knowledge to conduct appropriate job and task analyses in the context of instructional design of technical or specialized training.
• Understanding of FERPA and copyright guidelines for the classroom (i.e. Fair Use, the TEACH Act, etc.).
• Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
• A minimum of 3 years of experiencein digital course design and delivery using instructional design/learning experience design practices in higher education.

Nice To Haves

• Professional coursework in instructional design, educational technology and/or related field.
• Demonstrated knowledge of quality online course frameworks, learning data analytics, analysis, and metrics reporting.
• Working knowledge with professional eLearning multimedia and video production processes and associated editing software tools (i.e. Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, iMovie, Camtasia Studio).
• Demonstrated experiencing producing courses using eLearning tools, such as Articulate Storyline, Captivate, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
• Working knowledge with the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design).
• Understanding of business school curriculum such as accounting, finance, economics, strategy, management information systems, decision sciences, marketing, and organizational behavior.
