Requirements

  • Three years' experience as an instructional design or learning experience designer, e-learning development experience required.
  • Experience with Articulate Rise, Storyline, Camtasia, Vyond, and various LMS systems.
  • Experience designing and developing compelling learning experiences for adult learners.
  • Applicants must provide a portfolio demonstrating proficiency in Rise and Storyline.
  • Personable; able to work comfortably with individuals at all levels within the organization. Strong interpersonal skills. Appreciates and demonstrates collaboration across teams. Works well with employees at any level of employment.
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills; frequent proofreading and checking documents for accuracy.
  • Sensitivity to working with an ethnically, linguistically, culturally, and economically diverse population.
  • Approaches work with a growth mindset, welcome feedback, and understand that humans all have biases and are imperfect as a baseline. Open to feedback, fostering a collaborative environment for continuous improvement.
  • Work in an exciting, fast paced high energy environment while effectively multitasking and managing day-to-day responsibilities without supervision.
  • Deep knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models.
  • Write compelling copy, instructional text, and audio scripts/video scripts.
  • Updating tracking documents for internal and external use promptly, often while managing other projects.
  • Must be highly detail-oriented.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • A commitment to the values of the organization while demonstrating good judgment, flexibility, patience and discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Must communicate effectively within the work environment, read, and write using the primary language in the workplace.
  • Visual and auditory ability to work with staff and others continuously.
  • Frequent speaking and listening (20-80%) to staff and others in a remote work environment.
  • For effective communication, use a computer, virtual meeting software (Zoom, Teams, etc.), and a cell phone.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain criminal record clearance through the Department of Justice (DOJ). The People & Performance Department must analyze DOJ/FBI live scan reports in accordance with applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, as well as fitness for the position.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain clearance through the Office of Inspector General.
  • Must attend any required training.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development and delivery of Catalight Classroom’s high-quality, inclusive, and equity-informed educational experiences.
  • Design and develop engaging learning experiences across formats (e.g., classroom, online, instructor-led, synchronous, and asynchronous) using sound instructional design processes and adult learning principles.
  • Develop course manuscripts as a foundational step in the instructional design process, including drafting, structuring, and iterating content in collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Apply instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE) and best practices in online learning to guide course development.
  • Develop high-quality learning assets using tools such as Articulate Rise and Storyline, Vyond, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Build strong, collaborative partnerships with stakeholders across the organization and broader community.
  • Apply a deep understanding of adult learners, andragogy principles, and best practices in online learning to inform design decisions.
  • Implement accessibility guidelines across the learning catalog, ensuring alignment with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508, and WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards.
  • Work effectively within cross-functional teams and multi-stakeholder environments, acknowledging power, privilege, and diverse perspectives.
  • Manage the workflow of online course development, including planning, documentation, review cycles, and coordination of related services.
  • Manage assigned programs and maintain the currency of content by updating and enhancing materials to reflect current best practices.
  • Collaborate to deploy curriculum and test for functionality, learner experience, and tracking.
  • Analyze post-learning survey results and other data to inform revisions, improve learning outcomes, and identify future content needs.
