Learning Environments Support Specialist JOB SUMMARY The Learning Environments Support Specialist is responsible for supporting classroom and computer lab infrastructure and technologies at the university. In this role, they manage and support various classroom technologies including AV control and display systems; plan, organize, and coordinate daily computer lab operations for student use; and assist as needed in the implementation and integration of current and emerging technologies in support of teaching, learning and research. As a member of the IT Solutions team, the Learning Environments Support Specialist is expected to uphold the division’s mission to “empower an agile, digital university and elevate technology as a strategic institutional asset” and contribute positively to a collaborative, human-centered, innovative, accountable, transparent, and inclusive culture within ITS. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS Reports to: Associate Director, Educational & Research Technologies Supervises: No supervisory responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following: Classroom and Lab Support (75%) Provides consulting to faculty on best practice uses of classroom and computer lab technologies to promote effective teaching and learning. Implements and assesses classroom and computer lab technologies. Promotes the use of classroom and lab technologies to enhance teaching and learning through workshops, learning communities, webinars, and other opportunities. Provides support for all of the university’s core classroom and computer lab technology services, including discipline specific instructional technology. Troubleshoots and resolves computer classroom, classroom lab, and classroom related support issues. Tests and troubleshoots audio and video conference/classroom control and monitoring operations. Provides support as needed for academic technology-related issues, problems and requests. Assists as needed in providing faculty, staff, and students with software and hardware training/instruction on academic technology. Academic Technology Support (15%) Provides support as needed for academic technology-related issues, problems and requests. Assists as needed in providing faculty, staff, and students with software and hardware training/instruction on academic technology. ADDITIONAL DUTIES Participation & Support (10%) Maintains awareness of current practices and future trends in learning environments technology and best practices. Represents IT Solutions and participates in the campus community by serving on working groups, project teams, and university committees. Performs other duties as requested.
