About The Position

The Lead Tool Technician oversees the daily operations of the tool room or tooling maintenance area, ensuring tools, dies, fixtures, and equipment are maintained to support production efficiency and quality. This role combines advanced technical skills with leadership responsibilities, including mentoring junior technicians, coordinating repairs and preventative maintenance schedules, and collaborating with production and engineering teams.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a tool technician, maintenance or related role in manufacturing
  • OR
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Technical certificate or associate degree in industrial maintenance
  • Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. We do not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing the setup, calibration, maintenance, and repair of production tooling while leading and supporting a team of Tool Technicians
  • Ensures operational continuity by applying preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and problem-solving techniques to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
  • Manages spare parts inventory, coordinating with suppliers for restocking, and maintaining accurate records to comply with internal quality, safety, and documentation standards
  • Uses advanced tooling software, including Tools Net 8 and Tools Talk 2.0, to monitor tool performance, analyze usage data, and optimize efficiency and tool longevity
  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives, supports audits and inspections, and develops work instructions and training materials to enhance team performance
  • Requires a strong combination of technical expertise, leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to operational excellence, safety, and compliance
  • Serves as a key resource for the team, ensuring tools and processes are optimized, and that production goals are consistently met
