Lead Technologist- General Radiology
About The Position
Under the clinical direction of the Radiologist and general supervision of the Imaging Services Operations Manager and Imaging Operations Executive Director, the Lead Technologist provides day-to-day oversight of departmental operations. This position collaborates closely with leadership to ensure efficient workflow, high-quality imaging, regulatory compliance, and exceptional patient care. The Lead Technologist supports staff development, oversees scheduling, promotes safety, and drives operational excellence while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program or equivalent hospital- based program.
- Current ARRT and State of Connecticut licensure in Medical Radiography.
- Compliance with continuing education requirements as mandated by state and federal regulations.
- CPR Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum 3-5 years of radiography experience in an outpatient or comparable clinical setting.
- Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and support staff in a collaborative and professional manner.
- Advanced technical proficiency in imaging procedures, equipment operation, and quality assurance practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with patients, staff, and physicians.
- Sound judgment, problem-solving, and leadership abilities in clinical and operational settings.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations across Bone Density, Mammography, and X-ray departments.
- Monitor staff performance and ensure compliance with imaging quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Train, mentor, and support technologists in technical and administrative functions.
- Serve as liaison between staff, radiologists, and department leadership.
- Manage workflow and scheduling using RIS and other systems to optimize efficiency.
- Promote a positive, professional, and patient-centered work environment.
- Lead calmly and effectively during emergencies or high-stress situations.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
- Report and address equipment issues or unsafe conditions promptly.
- Provide staffing coverage at other locations as needed.
- Perform other duties to support departmental goals as assigned.
