About The Position

Under the clinical direction of the Radiologist and general supervision of the Imaging Services Operations Manager and Imaging Operations Executive Director, the Lead Technologist provides day-to-day oversight of departmental operations. This position collaborates closely with leadership to ensure efficient workflow, high-quality imaging, regulatory compliance, and exceptional patient care. The Lead Technologist supports staff development, oversees scheduling, promotes safety, and drives operational excellence while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program or equivalent hospital- based program.
  • Current ARRT and State of Connecticut licensure in Medical Radiography.
  • Compliance with continuing education requirements as mandated by state and federal regulations.
  • CPR Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of radiography experience in an outpatient or comparable clinical setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and support staff in a collaborative and professional manner.
  • Advanced technical proficiency in imaging procedures, equipment operation, and quality assurance practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Sound judgment, problem-solving, and leadership abilities in clinical and operational settings.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations across Bone Density, Mammography, and X-ray departments.
  • Monitor staff performance and ensure compliance with imaging quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Train, mentor, and support technologists in technical and administrative functions.
  • Serve as liaison between staff, radiologists, and department leadership.
  • Manage workflow and scheduling using RIS and other systems to optimize efficiency.
  • Promote a positive, professional, and patient-centered work environment.
  • Lead calmly and effectively during emergencies or high-stress situations.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
  • Report and address equipment issues or unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Provide staffing coverage at other locations as needed.
  • Perform other duties to support departmental goals as assigned.
