About The Position

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Lead Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for providing clinical management. Assists Nurse Manager in addressing the issues of all nursing staff and in annual assessments. Supervise Clinical Staff and responsible for quality nursing care under the direction of a physician or licensed healthcare provider in a clinical practice. The employee is expected to carry forth the responsibilities with minimum supervision, while exercising sound judgement, discretion, initiative and demonstrating a positive and professional image. Under the direction supervision of the Nurse Manager, the lead assumes responsibility and accountability for providing clinical management care. Assists Nurse Manager in addressing the issues of all nursing staff assigned and in annual assessments. Supervise assigned clinical staff. Supervision of assigned clinical staff and schedules for day to day operations. Manage and assist with decreasing over-time to be fiscally conservative. I.e. lunches, arrival times, and departure times. Schedules: Clinical staff self-scheduling with final approval from Nurse Manager. Collaborate schedules with all departments for coverage. Monitor daily staffing levels and adjust down or up for acuity and census. Promote a positive, motivating environment to support staff retention and morale. Guide staff to appropriately manage conflict, ongoing problems, and department issues. Provide coverage during the Nurse Managers absence to address department-specific concerns. Round daily on assigned staff. Leads will meet with Nurse Manager weekly or more often if needed. Leads will work closely with Nurse Manager. Assigned staff will report any questions, concerns, issues and schedules (each clinic self-scheduling and meet with other leads and nurse manager to discuss staffing). Call out: 2 hrs prior to clinic start 6am. Must notify lead and Nurse Manager. Leads will try to find someone within the building to cover clinic. If unable to find coverage notify nurse manager and nurse manager will reach out to other sites and PRN pool (must be done by 615am). Supervision of all Clinical Staff assigned and schedules for day to day operations. Manage call outs, staffing. Collaborate on department staffing schedules. Monitor daily staffing levels and adjust down or up for acuity and census. Asist with employee rounding and evaluations. Delegate appropriately with defined expectations. Assist the Nurse Manager as appropriate with employee disciplinary process and/or employee work improvement plans. Provide coverage during the Nurse Managers absence to address department-specific concerns. Round daily Meet with Nurse Manager weekly or more frequently. Promote an environment of clinical inquiry by guiding staff use of best practices to improve outcomes.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing program.
  • Current RN license with two year of experience in related area of practice.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Current South Carolina RN License and BLS required.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
  • Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting.
  • Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions.
  • Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required.
  • Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors.
  • Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs.
  • Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces
