Job Summary Plan, manage, and execute cost engineering and control activities for large, complex capital construction projects or portfolios. Perform analysis of cost performance; develop estimates; create and manage budgets; and interact frequently with the company's Capital Finance Team. Work with project teams on regular reporting of project financial performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience.
  • Plus 6 years of relevant work experience.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly analysis and reporting of cost performance, providing detailed analysis to project team to improve project performance and forecasting as well as to Capital Finance team to support corporate reporting and grants management.
  • Develop "Bottom-up forecast monthly to evaluate performance against Annual Operating plan for cost, other estimates as required to support evaluation of new scope or potential changes.
  • Review and vet invoices, receive them into Amtrak's Ariba-on-Demand system and develop monthly accruals.
  • Communicate with Finance on journal entries and corrections.
  • Assist in development of annual operating plan, including working closely with project managers to estimate costs for upcoming fiscal year as well as out years. Work with Capital Finance to refine plan as necessary.
  • Oversee administration of department budget, including managing off cycle reprogramming requests for new or adjusted funding on projects and preparation and/or approval of purchase requisitions.
