As the Lead Designer for the newly re-formed Data & Marketing domain at Alkami, you will spearhead a greenfield venture to solve one of the most significant challenges in Fintech: fragmentation. You will serve as the primary design architect for an industry-first suite natively embedded in the digital banking ecosystem, creating a critical bridge between complex financial data and elegant, actionable marketing tools. This is a high-level individual contributor role designed for a visionary builder who will own the design lifecycle of a brand-new interface—the command center through which Data Analysts and Marketers will access cutting-edge tools to anticipate and meet user needs before they arise. You will work alongside Product & Engineering leadership to architect the product vision from the ground up, defining the design strategy for this new vertical while navigating the ambiguity of a zero-to-one product. By skillfully applying systems thinking, you will translate massive, fragmented financial data into intuitive workflows, ensuring that the personalization engine and predictive behavioral scoring tools are both scalable and impactful. You will be responsible for the end-to-end design of a comprehensive canvas for building automated marketing journeys, device simulations, and rigorous A/B testing frameworks that optimize conversion. In addition to core marketing tools, you will pioneer the interface for a next-generation analytics suite, integrating agentic AI to allow for natural language data exploration. While you will leverage and contribute to the existing design system, you will also be expected to define new patterns and components specific to high-density data visualization and marketing automation. As a leader within the design organization, you will partner closely with Product and Engineering to ensure technical feasibility and market impact, confidently articulating your design rationale to stakeholders and fostering a culture of high-quality craftsmanship and collaborative critique.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience designing world-class B2B SaaS applications or complex data-driven platforms. Experience at the Lead or Principal level is preferred.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing "zero-to-one" product launches, sophisticated data visualizations, and deep systems thinking.
  • Proven experience with Data & Marketing personas: You understand the workflows of marketers and data analysts and know how to design for their specific needs.
  • Mastery of Modern Design Tools: Expert-level proficiency in Figma, including prototyping and maintaining/expanding complex component libraries, alongside leveraging AI-driven design tools to streamline workflows.
  • Technical Literacy: A strong understanding of how AI (specifically LLMs and agentic interfaces) and predictive modeling can be surfaced through UI.
  • Strategic Partnership: Experience working closely with Product and Engineering leadership to inform long-term product strategy.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in HCI, UX, Graphic Design, or equivalent practical experience in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Product Vision & Design Strategy Lead the design vision and strategy for Alkami’s Data & Marketing product suite, shaping a greenfield initiative from concept to execution
  • Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to define product direction, aligning user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility
  • Translate ambiguous problem spaces into clear, actionable design frameworks and product experiences
  • End-to-End Product Design Ownership Own the full design lifecycle—from discovery and concept development to prototyping, testing, and delivery
  • Design a unified “command center” interface enabling data analysts and marketers to access insights and execute marketing strategies
  • Create intuitive workflows that transform complex, fragmented financial data into actionable tools and experiences
  • Systems Thinking & Data-Driven Design Apply systems thinking to ensure scalability, consistency, and cohesion across a suite of interconnected tools
  • Design for high-density data environments, including dashboards, data visualizations, and analytics interfaces
  • Develop solutions that support personalization engines, predictive behavioral scoring, and automated decision-making
  • Marketing & Analytics Experience Design Design and deliver tools for building and managing automated marketing journeys and campaigns
  • Create interfaces for A/B testing frameworks, conversion optimization, and performance tracking
  • Pioneer user experiences for next-generation analytics, including natural language data exploration powered by AI
  • Design Systems & Craft Excellence Extend and evolve Alkami’s design system with new components and patterns tailored to data visualization and marketing automation
  • Ensure a high bar for visual design, interaction quality, and usability across all deliverables
  • Balance functional complexity with elegant, modern, and intuitive user experiences
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influence Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and execution excellence
  • Communicate design rationale clearly and persuasively to stakeholders, including senior and executive leadership
  • Facilitate design critiques and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and high-quality craftsmanship
  • User-Centered Design & Iteration Advocate for deep user empathy, particularly for Data Analysts and Marketers, through research and insights
  • Use rapid iteration, prototyping, and testing to validate ideas and continuously improve solutions
  • Navigate ambiguity with a bias toward action, learning quickly through experimentation
  • Leadership & Organizational Impact Serve as a design leader and role model within the organization, influencing standards, processes, and ways of working
  • Mentor and support other designers through feedback, collaboration, and knowledge sharing
  • Help shape the future of Alkami’s design practice within a new and strategically important product vertical
