About The Position

Centered in the heart of Boyle Heights, Adventist Health White Memorial has been a leading healthcare provider since 1913. The facility includes a 353-bed hospital, three medical office buildings, residency programs, comprehensive cancer care, and a wide range of services in Los Angeles. In 2019, Adventist Health White Memorial received the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. The organization actively promotes community wellness through local farmers markets and a community resource center offering services for seniors and Spanish-speakers. The Lead Paramedic assists the Manager with financial and medical records maintenance, staff scheduling, vehicle maintenance, and pharmaceutical supply management. This role also contributes to the development and maintenance of quality improvement and training programs for new ambulance employees, and supports the ongoing training and development of current ambulance staff. A key responsibility is providing first-aid treatment and life support care to sick or injured patients in accordance with medical practice standards.

Requirements

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent
  • Paramedic license in state of practice
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS OR HS-ACLS OR RQIACLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS OR HS-PALS OR RQIPALS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy
  • Valid Driver’s License (DL) and must be at least 21 yrs of age or older
  • California Ambulance Driver Certificate
  • DMV Medical Examination Certificate
  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
  • AHA-PALS certification
  • Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS) certification
  • Certified Ambulance Driver (CAD) certification
  • California DMV Medical Examiner (DMVME) certification

Responsibilities

  • Assists Manager with financial and medical records maintenance

  • Provides first-aid treatment or life support care to sick or injured patients according to acceptable medical practice standards
  • Performs all principal job duties of Paramedic
  • Assists with coordination Ambulance Department staff including scheduling personnel, billing and collaboration with other hospital departments
  • Oversees new employee onboarding and training
  • Helps monitor and develop policies and procedures for EMT and Paramedic Services
  • Assists with integrity and maintenance of unit equipment, including supervising monthly equipment, supplies and medicine checkouts and outdates
  • Provides assistance with vehicle licensing, inspections and maintenance
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
