About The Position

Adventist Health White Memorial, located in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, has been a leading healthcare provider since 1913. It is a 353-bed hospital with three medical office buildings, residency programs, and comprehensive cancer care. The facility was recognized with the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 2019 and actively promotes community wellness. The Lead Paramedic assists the Manager with various administrative and operational tasks, including financial and medical records, staff scheduling, vehicle maintenance, and pharmaceutical supply management. This role also contributes to the development and maintenance of quality improvement and training programs for new and current ambulance employees, while providing essential first-aid treatment and life support care to patients.

Requirements

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent
  • Paramedic license in state of practice
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS OR HS-ACLS OR RQIACLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS OR HS-PALS OR RQIPALS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy
  • Valid Driver’s License (DL) and must be at least 21 yrs of age or older
  • California Ambulance Driver Certificate and DMV Medical Examination Certificate
  • Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS)
  • Certified Ambulance Driver (CAD)
  • California DMV Medical Examiner (DMVME)

Responsibilities

  • Assists Manager with financial and medical records maintenance.
  • Assists Manager with staff scheduling and coordination of Ambulance Department staff, including billing and collaboration with other hospital departments.
  • Assists Manager with vehicle maintenance, licensing, and inspections.
  • Assists Manager with pharmaceutical supply management.
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of quality improvement programs.
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of training programs for new ambulance employees.
  • Provides support with training and development of current ambulance staff.
  • Provides first-aid treatment or life support care to sick or injured patients according to acceptable medical practice standards.
  • Performs all principal job duties of a Paramedic.
  • Oversees new employee onboarding and training.
  • Helps monitor and develop policies and procedures for EMT and Paramedic Services.
  • Assists with the integrity and maintenance of unit equipment, including supervising monthly equipment, supplies, and medicine checkouts and outdates.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
