About The Position

Centered in the heart of Boyle Heights, Adventist Health White Memorial is one of the area's leading healthcare providers since 1913. The Paramedic provides emergency care in the pre-hospital environment, including advanced-level medical care, evaluation, treatment, and stabilization to the ill and injured. This role requires a comprehensive knowledge base to diagnose and provide care for a broad range of medical emergencies. Responsibilities include responding to calls for emergency medical assistance, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or bandaging a wound, assessing a patient's condition, determining a course of treatment, and providing first-aid treatment or life support care according to acceptable medical practice standards.

Requirements

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent
  • Paramedic license in state of practice
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS)
  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS OR HS-ACLS OR RQIACLS) certification
  • Valid Driver’s License (DL) and must be at least 21 yrs of age or older
  • Paramedic (PM)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support): Required within 6 months of hire or transfer
  • Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS)

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience
  • Three years' full time experience in a 911 system
  • Emergency Vehicle Operator Certification (EVOC) or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Provides individualized care plan for patient presentation according to acceptable medical practice standards, issued standing orders, on-line medical control and department policies and procedures.
  • Provides emergency care in the pre-hospital environment.
  • Provides fundamental components of patient comfort, safety, privacy and respect within the perioperative setting. Identifies and develops areas of expertise within the surgical specialties.
  • Conducts emergency medical classes as requested by department manager.
  • Administers oral and intravenous medications. Intubates patients or performs surgical airway insertion (cricothyrotomy), and place catheters for venous access such as central venous lines.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
