About The Position

Lead Orthopaedic Surgery APP Opportunity Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner MedStar Washington Hospital Center - Washington, D.C. MedStar Medical Group invites an experienced Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our growing Orthopaedic Surgery team at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, one of the most respected referral centers for complex orthopaedic cases in the region. Your Role: Provide inpatient clinical care for post-operative orthopaedic surgery patients Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams and support resident learners Participate in daily patient management, care coordination, and discharge planning Lead and coordinate daily operations of the APP team, including scheduling, mentoring, and performance management Develop clinical protocols, support quality improvement initiatives, and ensure compliance with regulatory and clinical standards Serve as a liaison between department leadership, staff, and attending physicians to promote a high standard of patient care Maintain an active clinical practice while fostering education and professional development among APP colleagues Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts, 40 hours/week (no nights, weekends, or holidays at this time-subject to change)

Requirements

  • Experienced Orthopaedic APPs - minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Must be a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
  • Confident in managing post-surgical ortho patients in an inpatient setting
  • Collaborative and eager to work as part of a high-performing team with leadership responsibilities
  • Graduate of an accredited PA program or Acute Care NP program
  • Current licensure in the District of Columbia (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong communication, leadership, and clinical decision-making skills

Responsibilities
