What You’ll Do: As a Nurse Supervisor at Friends Homes, you’ll play a critical role in delivering high-quality, person-centered care for residents. You will be a key part of an interdisciplinary team that supports independence, dignity, and quality of life. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Direct Care & Clinical Oversight: Administer and record care given to residents following approved standards Monitor and evaluate residents’ health and communicate with physicians and families Draw blood, obtain lab specimens, and assist with treatments Participate in on-call rotation and respond to apartment calls as needed Team Leadership & Support: Supervise and mentor nursing staff and assistants; provide training and reinforcement Participate in performance evaluations and disciplinary actions Coordinate with other departments including Social Services, Therapy, and Activities to ensure holistic care Compliance & Documentation: Ensure compliance with OBRA, OSHA, state, and federal regulations Monitor accuracy of doctor’s orders, MARs, and resident charts Maintain resident rights and promote a safe, clean environment Resident Advocacy & Quality of Life: Support our cultural change philosophy, creating a homelike atmosphere with pets, plants, and children Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, care planning, and safety drills Educate residents and families on care plans and transitions Requirements: Required: Current Registered Nurse (RN) and/or LPN license with the North Carolina Board of Nursing Current CPR certification (One-Man Adult CPR per American Heart Association) Experience working with geriatric residents Ability to supervise and lead nursing staff Ability to lift and assist residents (see physical requirements below) Preferred: Supervisory experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting Participation in QAPI, safety committees, or other interdisciplinary teams Physical & Sensory Requirements: Ability to lift 10–50 lbs frequently Regular standing, walking, and reaching required Occasional pushing/pulling (e.g., wheelchairs, charts) Prolonged sitting for documentation Ability to detect changes in resident health through observation, touch, smell, and communication Exposure Risk: This position may involve exposure to bloodborne pathogens (CDC Category I and II). Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) and/or LPN license with the North Carolina Board of Nursing
  • Current CPR certification (One-Man Adult CPR per American Heart Association)
  • Experience working with geriatric residents
  • Ability to supervise and lead nursing staff
  • Ability to lift and assist residents (see physical requirements below)

Nice To Haves
