About The Position

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art seeks a full time Lead Museum Educator for Arts in Medicine and Wellness to join the Learning and Engagement department. This role supports the implementation and delivery of wellness focused, arts-based programs across clinical, educational, and community contexts. The Lead Museum Educator carries primary responsibility for structured gallery teaching within the Arts in Medicine curriculum, particularly with the Alice L. Walton School of Medicine. The role also provides operational coordination and facilitation support for hospital partnerships, Artists in Residence engagements, and revenue generating Art and Wellness programs. This is a teaching intensive role grounded in disciplined facilitation, preparation, and execution. It complements strategic leadership positions by ensuring consistent, high quality program delivery across medical, clinical, and public environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in art education, museum studies, studio art, art history, public health, social work, or a related field
  • Minimum of three years experience facilitating educational or community-based programs in museum, healthcare, or nonprofit settings
  • Demonstrated ability to lead structured sessions for adult and professional learners
  • Strong organizational skills with experience managing schedules, materials, and program logistics
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with comfort working across disciplines and institutions
  • Familiarity with trauma informed and inclusive teaching practices
  • Proficiency with standard office software including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation tools
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends and to travel locally for program delivery

Responsibilities

  • Gallery Teaching and Medical School Curriculum Delivery Lead structured gallery sessions aligned with Arts in Medicine curricula
  • Deliver recurring sessions for the Alice L. Walton School of Medicine, representing the majority of teaching time
  • Prepare object selections, prompts, worksheets, and spatial plans for medical cohorts
  • Facilitate close looking, discussion, reflective writing, and applied observation with professional learners
  • Adapt delivery in real time while maintaining curricular integrity Program Operations and Administrative Coordination
  • Manage scheduling, confirmations, and coordination with AWSOM, Mercy Hospital, Arkansas Children’s Northwest, and internal departments
  • Prepare materials and coordinate spaces for gallery, studio, clinical, and outdoor programs
  • Track attendance and maintain accurate program documentation
  • Support evaluation and reporting processes
  • Coordinate facilitation logistics for Artists in Residence engagements at Arkansas Children’s Northwest across patients, caregivers, and staff Revenue Generating and Public Program Facilitation
  • Lead and support arts based Continuing Medical Education programs
  • Facilitate Working Well Together corporate wellness retreats
  • Deliver recurring public wellness programs including Deep Listening Club and Sunday Reset at the Momentary
  • Support art and wellness focused offerings such as yoga, tai chi, sound baths, forest bathing, and Coffee and Chill
  • Ensure high quality participant experience across fee based and public programs
