About The Position

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Analyzes drawings, sketches, and design data of part to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates. Consults with engineer and other personnel regarding product information such as design, capacity and purpose, and types of material to be used to fabricate product. Analyzes written specifications, drawings, rough sketches, and verbal instructions to plan layout and determine sequence of operations. Determines reference points and direction of machine cutting paths. Computes angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures, and outlines sequence of operations required to machine part. Write instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machine. Writes CNC program of machine to regulate movement of machine along cutting path. Design and assist in fixture design, selects tools and writes tooling sheets. Maintains accurate files of programs used in production. Participates during the 1st run job on all operations to prove out programmed instructions and that the part meets the specifications and cost estimates. Evaluates experimental procedures and recommends changes or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production. Is a resource for solving machining problems in the Machine Shop. Champion projects to ensure meeting customer delivery. On-the-job Mastercam training/growth will be provided for the motivated applicant. Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • An associate degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • A minimum of eight years’ experience in machining and cutting tool technology in a Machine Shop environment.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Possess knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software, CAD and CAM programming software such as Solidworks, MasterCam or other manufacturer software.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision and Depth perception.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
