About The Position

Purpose: Orient and train new employees and provide training to existing employees in the department. Document and communicate procedural changes to the transcription process and system. Maintain systems used, develop and produce reports as needed and requested. Support daily operations as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED with 2 years of transcription experience OR Associate's degree in related field with 1 year of Transcription experience.
  • Must meet departmental productivity and QA score requirements when performing transcription.
  • Able to work extensively with medical terminology with strong grammatical and transcription problem solving skills to detect and correct errors in spelling, syntax, word usage, and punctuation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain transcription procedure and system manuals and distribute to staff and management.
  • Manage changes in formats, documents and specialized vocabulary and update author names and titles.
  • Ensure that staff complete all required training.
  • Assist to troubleshoot problems with systems used including individual PC's.
  • Assist with maintenance of general office equipment including phones, printers, copiers, fax machine, print server and PC's when required.
  • Prepare job lists and schedule for outsources transcriptionists.
  • Assist with dictation system updates and edits; assign jobs, update user profiles, manages pools and pool scripts, transfer jobs for outside transcription, monitors print production, backlog and other management reports.
  • Search journals, publications, internet, etc. for applicable clinical resources to update service protocols with new terminology.
  • Perform transcription functions as required.
  • Coordinate staff schedules and ensure smooth daily operation of the department.
  • Complete initial, follow-up and ongoing training to all medical transcription staff to include use of dictation and transcription software and Word as the basis for word processing.
  • Attend required meetings.
  • Orient new transcription staff to department policies, procedures and standards.
  • Update staff on revisions in software, upgrades, system issues, productivity tips, etc. If training is required, plan and execute training for all transcriptionists.
