About The Position

Central Maine Healthcare is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving 400,000 people living in central, western and Midcoastal Maine. The Lead Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, clerical, environmental and organization tasks, as well as appointment scheduling and chart management. This role provides information to patients to help them fully utilize and benefit from clinic services and conveys a positive image of the organization. The Lead Medical Assistant delegates and follows up with medical assistant staff within the clinic and works under the Clinic Manager / Director to assist with maintaining efficient patient flow and quality care during clinic hours. This position also assists supervisors in training new staff and works as part of a health care team including physicians, NP/PA’s, patient services representatives, medical records, medical assistants, health educators and social workers to provide comprehensive care in a non-judgmental manner.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school for Medical Assistants, Surgical Technologists, or one year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a physician clinic setting.
  • Current BLS certification upon hire and maintained current.
  • Current medical assistant credential from a nationally recognized Medical Assistant Credentialing organization required.
