About The Position

Central Maine Healthcare is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving 400,000 people living in central, western and Midcoastal Maine. CMH's hospital facilities include Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital. CMH also supports Central Maine Medical Group, a primary and specialty care practice organization. Other system services include the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute, a regional trauma program, LifeFlight of Maine's southern Maine base, the Central Maine Comprehensive Cancer Center and other high-quality clinical services. The Lead Medical Assistant works under the Clinic Manager / Director to assist with maintaining efficient patient flow and quality care during clinic hours. This position assists the supervisors in training new staff and works as part of a health care team including physicians, NP/PA’s, patient services representatives, medical records, medical assistants, health educators and social workers to provide comprehensive care in a non-judgmental manner.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school for Medical Assistants, Surgical Technologists, or one year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a physician clinic setting.
  • Current BLS certification upon hire and maintained current.
  • Current medical assistant credential from a nationally recognized Medical Assistant Credentialing organization required.

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience as a medical assistant in a clinic setting preferred.
  • Lead/Management experience preferred.
  • Training/Preceptor experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, clerical, environmental and organization tasks.
  • Responsible for appointment scheduling and chart management.
  • Provides Information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinic services.
  • Conveys a positive image of organization.
  • Delegates and follows up with medical assistant staff within the clinic.
  • Assist with maintaining efficient patient flow and quality care during clinic hours.
  • Assists the supervisors in training new staff.
  • Works as part of a health care team including physicians, NP/PA’s, patient services representatives, medical records, medical assistants, health educators and social workers to provide comprehensive care in a non-judgmental manner.
