The Opportunity: Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (“SEL”) seeks professional, innovative and detailed individuals for our Lead Mechanical Engineer position located at our headquarters in Pullman, Washington. Lead Mechanical Engineer (Multiple Openings) Responsibilities: The Lead Mechanical Engineer will utilize his or her knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and process engineering principles, practices, and philosophies to lead in assembly design, plastic and metal part design, tolerance studies, manufacturability/assembly design, component selection and specification, thermal analysis and design, and mechanical shock and vibration analysis. The incumbent will apply the principles of mechanical, electrical, and process engineering to: (1) lead in qualifying and monitoring component and custom part vendors; (2) generate and maintain accurate bills of materials; (3) provide accurate labor and material estimates; (4) review and support documentation, mechanical designs, and manufacturing process design; (5) write test plans, conduct design tests, and review results; (6) maintain current and accurate project notebooks; and (7) follow, measure, and improve company’s engineering and R&D processes.
