Key Responsibilities: The Lead Lifeguard ensures patron safety at the pool facility by monitoring activities, enforcing rules, responding to emergencies, and assisting swimmers as needed. The SVCA Pool is open from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend daily. Enforce all pool and community center rules. Monitor pool activities, identify safety concerns, and perform lifesaving procedures. Lead opening and closing the pool, including setting up/breaking down furniture, lifeguard stations, and testing pool chemicals. Maintain cleanliness by removing debris, vacuuming, and skimming the pool. Assign lifeguard positions and maintain required occupancy levels with Recreation Staff. Document incidents, rescues, and rule violations accurately and report them to management. Conduct routine safety inspections of pool equipment, lifeguard gear, and emergency supplies. Provide feedback to lifeguards. Monitor weather conditions for guest safety. Ensure proper and timely setup when parties/rentals are scheduled. Attend Mandatory SVCA Lifeguard skills trainings (June 10th, July 15th, August 5th). Assist patrons as needed. Work Experience/ Educational Requirements: (Suitable work experience may substitute for Educational Requirements) Must be 18+ years old with a valid Lifeguard, First Aid, & CPR certification (or willingness to obtain). Certification course: May 15-17, 2026 (paid for by SVCA). Mandatory Refresher Course for Certified Lifeguards: May 16, 2026 (paid for by SVCA). Must have at least one year or season of lifeguard experience. Must pass a background check and drug screening. Flexible schedule, including weekends. Supervision: Works under the direction of the Recreation Manager. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and occasional lifting (25 lbs). Requires hand coordination, visual focus, and cognitive awareness. Ability to swim and pass lifeguard fitness test. Indoor and outdoor work, including possible inclement weather.
