About the role HealthFitness is seeking a full-time, 40 hours per week, Lead Lifeguard to assist with oversight at our facility in Hartford, CT. This dynamic aquatics leadership role is ideal for someone passionate about safety, service, and creating great experiences for the community. You’ll lead daily lifeguard operations, respond confidently to incidents, support staff scheduling and step in as manager on duty when needed. In addition, you’ll help bring programs to life, assisting with swim instruction, special events, birthday parties, and family fun nights that make the Aquatic Center a place people love to visit. Schedule: Tuesday-Friday, 12pm-8pm, Weekends: 12-4pm, with one weekend off a month Responsible for monitoring and ensuring a safe and friendly environment for all the aquatic facility members and guests. Will also act as manager on duty when leadership is not available.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old and have a High School Diploma/GED.
American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
A high level of emotional maturity
Sound judgment and decision-making ability
Strong communication skills
Proficiency in all skills pertinent to that area
Positive attitude
Ability to navigate electronic onboarding and timecard systems required.

Nice To Haves

4 plus years of experience as a lifeguard preferred including 2 years of previous supervisory experience.
Lifeguard Instructor certification preferred
ARC Water Safety Instructor certification preferred

Responsibilities

Ensure the safety and well-being of patrons by performing Lifeguard surveillance, enforcing policies and following all regulations and procedures.
Responsible for quickly handling all injuries/incidents that occur in the Aquatic Center during your shift and filling out incident/accident report, administer first aid as needed.
Enforce and explain rules as necessary.
Attend all required staff meetings and training.
Report any broken or dysfunctional equipment immediately via incident report.
Be familiar with all schedules and any posted changes for all facilities.
Acts as manager on duty in absence of other leadership.
Schedules swim instructors and fills in when lifeguards and swim instructors are unable to make their shifts.
Assist Aquatics Supervisor with the implementation of various programs and initiatives.
Other duties as needed/assigned.
