About The Position

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a full-time Lead Driver to provide courier service for daily mail and package delivery and pick-up. This position is based in New Hampshire and reports to the Manager of Mail Services. Southern New Hampshire University is a team of innovators and world changers, dedicated to progress with purpose. Requirements

  • 1+ years' of customer service experience
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass SNHU's driver's policy
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. occasionally using proper lifting techniques
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. frequently using proper lifting techniques
  • Must be able to be on foot (standing/walking) for long periods of time

Responsibilities

  • Transport mail to and from the US Post Office at scheduled times each day using provided vehicle
  • Maintain proper fuel level in delivery van and monitor for maintenance to report any concerns
  • Responsible for general cleanliness of the van including periodic car washes, vacuuming and wiping down surfaces
  • Remove snow and other debris from vehicle before driving
  • Make special deliveries and pick-ups of packages on and off campus
  • Oversee mail sorting, mail delivery preparation, and package intake daily
  • Help with mail processing, including shipping out packages and letters on the meter, through Pitney Bowes, Fed Ex or any other vendor
  • Occasional customer service and phone answering is required
  • Assist with finding and deliver packages to students, staff, and faculty at the front window
  • Responsible for hand delivering certified mail to the post office
  • Purchase stamps for the mailroom
  • Cover all mail routes both on and off campus
  • Report any changes in routes/departments
  • Report to work or remain on duty during emergency closures or modified operations, such as severe weather, as this is an essential personnel role
  • Work on a computer to process and look up packages using SNHU software and take required trainings
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
