About The Position

The Lead Direct Support Professional (Lead DSP) plays a key role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential setting. This position provides hands-on care while also serving as a shift leader, ensuring daily operations run smoothly and team members deliver high-quality, person-centered support. Requirements

  • Minimum age: 18
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license and Social Security number
  • Ability to type 70+ WPM and navigate basic computer systems
  • Must pass background checks, DMV screening, Medicaid exclusion, fingerprinting (if SC resident <1 year), and provide 3 professional references
  • This role involves regular standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and hands-on support. Reasonable accommodations are available.

Nice To Haves

  • 2–4 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of Direct Support Professional experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and support to individuals, including assistance with daily living skills, community engagement, and personal care as needed.
  • Serve as the shift lead by guiding and supporting DSP team members.
  • Ensure daily routines, documentation, and service plans are followed.
  • Model professional behavior and person-centered practices for staff.
  • Communicate effectively with Program Managers, nurses, coworkers, and families.
  • Assist with scheduling, training, and mentoring new DSPs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with DDSN and CLC policies.
  • Respond to emergencies and ensure the safety and well-being of individuals at all times.
  • Support individuals in achieving personal goals, promoting independence and dignity.
