Drug discovery continues to be transformed by powerful computational sciences and technologies that translate measurements into actionable knowledge about disease, patients and therapeutics. At Biogen, the Digital Medicine team is part of Biogen’s cross functional IT organization that provides scientists with cutting-edge computational informatics and analytics tools and services. The team collaborates closely with multiple business teams from R&D, PO&T and Medical on points of common interest. The team has technical depth, agility and great motivation to enable solving scientifically demanding problems. Biogen is seeking a Lead of Digital Medicine Computing to work at the interface of computer science, advanced analytics, Big Data to ensure that computing software architecture keeps up with the rate of innovation in research. The Lead of Computing will lead a team to architect, develop, deploy and maintain software products and services, and most importantly, define a vision of innovation that delivers value while solving challenging problems and meeting business needs through application of Biogen R&D’s high performance computing and data resources. The Lead is a leader in the Research and Early Development organization and responsible for the compute, storage, and data engineering strategy. The Lead will work both hands-on and at a high level across the Centers of Excellence and with researchers, especially those who are importing and generating petabyte scale data, and who are building the next generation of compute applications, data processing pipelines for target identification, validation, drug discovery, and patient stratification. The ideal candidate will have scientific software engineering and high performance compute administrative experience and demonstrated expertise in both designing, leading and operationalizing high performance computing services and environments for applications in areas of genetics and genomics, cheminformatics, proteomics, image analysis, devices, wearables and related sources of data. In addition s/he is a team player who will work closely with experimental and computational biologists, statistical geneticists, and early development clinicians on projects across all parts of the organization and pipeline.
