About The Position

The Lead Counselor Supervisor is responsible for providing direct supervision to the Counselor Supervisors, Senior Recreational Counselor, Security Guard, and other designed staff. With the guidance of Director, the Lead Counselor Supervisor will assist in ensuring Title 22 compliance in conjunction with all shelter/group homes and is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the program. This position functions as a group home administrator over assigned facilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Must be able to relate well and provide crisis intervention services to undocumented children.
  • Must be bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Must be in good health.
  • Be physically, mentally, and occupationally capable of performing assigned tasks for this class of employee.
  • Group Home Administrator certificate.
  • Must meet Title XXII personnel requirements with regards to fingerprints, forms and documents.
  • Obtain all other required training.
  • Must have a valid California drivers license and good driving record.
  • Possess or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certificates.
  • Have and maintain Professional Assault Crisis Training (ProACT) and/or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI).
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

Nice To Haves

  • AA/Bachelor's degree in social science from an accredited institution of higher learning preferred.
  • Experience with at least 5 years of childcare experience in a residential treatment center and/or group home environment is preferred.
  • Prior experience as a supervisor is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, support and interact with Counselor Supervisors, Senior Recreation Supervisor and as needed other workforce members in facilitating the program in providing safe and high quality 24-hour care for undocumented children.
  • Coordinate the planning and carrying out of all agency and ORR staff training on a regular basis making sure that all staff training needs and requirements are met and documented.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources and Counselor Supervisors in the hiring and promotion of counselor staff.
  • Establish and train on clear work performance expectations to create and maintain an environment of accountability for Counselor Supervisors and the Senior Recreation Counselor and support them in doing the same with their supervises.
  • Coordinate unannounced visits to ensure that all New Beginnings homes are meeting title 22 requirements.
  • Ensure all necessary SIRs are sent to CCL in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all necessary reports, including SIRs, are accurately completed by the counselor supervisor and senior counselors and submitted within ORR required timelines.
  • Communicate and coordinate with all appropriate staff during shift changes.
  • Communicate with Lead Clinician and Lead Case Manager concerning significant events that happen with residents and/or staff.
  • Provide input and enforce policies and procedures including planning, intervention strategies to be used, admissions and discharges.
  • Assist and intervene in crisis utilizing approved crisis intervention strategies.
  • Periodically audit UAC Portal to ensure counselor supervisors and senior counselors are meeting admission/intake timelines.
  • Ensure group home and cottage environment are clean and well maintained meeting CCL requirements.
  • Ensure scheduling of all appointments and off-grounds activities are being completed.
  • Secure coverage for planned leave time and unexpected absences of counselors including those on fly out duty.
  • Provides regular supervision as well as completes annual performance evaluations for assigned supervisees.
  • Assist in review and signing off on evaluations completed by supervisees.
  • Assist staff as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
