This position is responsible for the management of programs or projects (e.g., strategic change management, process re-engineering, establishment of control procedures or strategic programs that cross divisions ie. ensuring offshoring process works smoothly and meets business needs as intended) on a firm-wide scale. Sometimes referred to as the internal consultant, this area specialized in typically working on multi-disciplinary projects and require a broad knowledge of the firm and its key functions.

Requirements

  • Requires deep technical knowledge typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
  • Typically viewed as having a specialty within discipline.
  • May have broad knowledge of project management.
  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 7 years of prior relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • May use six sigma, including DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control), DFSS (Design for Six Sigma), Process Management, Lean and Project Selection.
  • Accountable for providing expertise, support, and control for an organization's projects including: Developing program/project management best practices/templates and providing training/mentoring to project teams; Monitoring dependencies across multiple inter-related projects; Gathering and reporting consolidated project status and financial information to leadership.
  • May serve as a central governing body to review/audit adherence to methodologies, budgets, and timing.
  • May manage inputs and outputs of 3rd party's on behalf of client (all consultants. designers, + contractors).
  • Recognized subject matter expert in sub-function typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.
  • May have up to one direct report.
  • Managing large projects or processes and/or products and systems with limited oversight from management
  • Coaching, reviewing and delegating work to lower-level professionals
  • Facing function related problems that are difficult and moderately complex
  • Serving as an expert within own discipline
